Retired racing greyhounds make fantastic family members you’ll love and enjoy.
We are a dedicated group of volunteers who devote their time to saving the lives of ex-racing Greyhounds. All of our greyhounds are profiled by the carers who look after them when they come into rescue, and this means that we can work with you to find the right dog for you.
We rescue Greyhounds for a variety of reasons:
- Many find themselves at risk of being “put to sleep” after their racing career.
- We receive others directly from their trainers.
- Some are brought to us after being abandoned as strays.
- While others come from owners who can no longer keep them.
Please take a minute to meet our available Greyhounds; we know they’re looking forward to meeting you. If you don’t see the right rescue dog for you, please contact us as we often have other dogs waiting to come into rescue.

Sponsor a Hector’s Greyhound dog
Hector’s Greyhound Rescue take in well over a hundred dogs in need every year and do our best to never turn away a dog that needs us. We rely heavily on public donations and appreciate people’s generosity as we receive no government funding. Unfortunately, there are some dogs who can never be rehomed due to injury, ill-health or social/behavioural problems, which can be linked to a traumatic past experience. These dogs will stay with Hector’s forever and become our ‘Forever Fosters’.
Your donation will not just help our ‘Forever Fosters’ but also the other gorgeous dogs who are with Hector’s. Thank you.

Greyhound of the month
All our Greyhounds are amazing, but each month we like to give one some extra special attention.
Bazooka
Now retired and from an amazing pedigree Bazooka is looking for his forever home. At 4 years old, and only having known kennel life he is a bit on the shy side. Once he builds up some trust with you he comes through like a champion and just wants to give. He has a very playful nature and loves his toys so would benefit from someone who wants to spend time interacting and helping Bazooka to reach his potential.
