Colemere Walk With Fred

The Morning Experience (11:00 am) ​Arriving at  Colemere at11:00 am is perfect timing. The early morning mist will have cleared from the water, and the sun (weather permitting) will be high enough to light up the mere. At this time, the birdlife is incredibly active. ​What to Expect: Since May 3rd falls within the bird nesting season, you’ll notice signs asking for dogs to be kept on short leads. This is to protect ground-nesting birds in the hay meadows. ​The Atmosphere: You’ll likely hear the “plop” of rising fish and the calls of Great Crested Grebes. The park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and at this time of year, the rare flora of the wetlands is just beginning to wake up.
